Naturalization Requirements

People who have lived legally in Germany for at least 8 years can apply for naturalization.

Requirements

• At least 8 years legal residence (7 with integration course)
• German language skills B1
• Naturalization test
• Self-sufficient income
• Clean criminal record

Dual Citizenship

With the 2024 reform, EU citizens and Turkish nationals may be eligible for dual citizenship. Consult a lawyer for details.
